On my Back 2 The Basics mixtape (Disc 2), there was a KiD CuDi track titled “Can I Be” we premiered. Although most didn’t realize, the sample that was used on the track came from LCD Soundsystem’s “Someone Great”. Yesterday, LCD Soundsystem released their first single from a 12″ vinyl they will be releasing November 7th. It will be released digitally on the 24th but you know what the business is around these parts…

I haven’t had much time to sit with this project aside from listening to the first single “Give Blood” but from the sounds of it, Kyp Malone (from TV On The Radio) aka Rain Machine, was exploring some eclectic fields with this album. It would be a hard listen if you’re not too into too much rock. The song below has him on the acoustic throwback feel for 10 minutes. Will your attention span let you handle such a long song?

The Arctic Monkeys release “Cornerstone”, the second single from their recent, number 1 album Humbug out now. The album isn’t too bad, and it’s actually a bit more mellow and psychedelic than past efforts. I be f—- with that ish. YOU ALREADY KNOW.
The official video for John Mayer’s first single from the upcoming Battle Studies album scheduled for release November 17th. Continuum was an official classic, so I expect nothing but the greatest guitar solo’s on this next effort. Video was directed by Anthony Mandler.

I been playing Mayer Hawthorne’s A Strange Arrangement album so hardbody lately, but it’s good to see him with some left field ass visuals for a song that could have possibly been some cookie cutter ish. Lord knows what he’s talking about. PUT YOURSELF ON TO Mayer Hawthorne if you haven’t already.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is supposed to be the biggest movie of the year and with the hype surrounding the film, it’s only right that they recruit some of the top alternative/rock bands for the soundtrack. If features everyone from Lykke Li, Bon Iver, Muse, The Killers and Hov’s new inspiration as well as Radiohead’s frontman. I suggest you induce yourself with some type of uncontrolled substance before listening because it will definitely take you for a trip.
